where we are
Can Volta is in Calabuig, a small town in the Alt Empordà, within the municipality of Bascara, about 130 km from Barcelona and 20 km from Girona.
Nearby is the Calabuig castle, that was built around 1175 AD and destroyed by Jaume I de Catalunya i Aragó in 1275 AD. Part of that structure has survived as a church: Sant Feliu de Calabuig. The town square offers a splendid view: the Roses Gulf and the Fluvià River valley to the East with many small charming villages and the Pyrinees to the North.
how to get here
By car: motorway AP7 (Barcelona – France) – take exit 5 ( L’Escala- Empúries). Take the N-II towards Figueres and Bàscara. At Bàscara, turn right, towards Sant Mori. One kilometer down that road you will be in Calabuig.
By train: Camallera station is 5 km from Calabuig (Barcelona to Port Bou/Cerbère line).
